Ryan Batchelor

Ryan is passionate about good public policy that makes a difference in people's lives, and believes in using the power of government to drive progressive change in our community.

Before entering parliament, Ryan worked as a public servant, political adviser, and policy researcher. This included serving as Director of Policy in the Office of Prime Minister Julia Gillard MP; as a senior executive in the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet in a range of reform areas, including the response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence; and as Executive Director of the McKell Institute in Victoria.

Housing remains a foundation for the participation of everyone in community and economic life, and Ryan is a strong advocate for continuing government investment in building affordable and social housing across the community.

Having grown up and gone to primary and secondary school in Southern Metropolitan Melbourne, Ryan has a passion for accessible, quality education for all.

Ryan understands that by providing quality education now, we will create a more prosperous future with stronger and more resilient communities.
