Investing in health and protecting our hospitals

Labor has built 12 new hospitals – now we’re slashing emergency wait times by delivering hundreds more beds and nurses.

Labor has recruited thousands more nurses, doctors and health workers, helping treat more than 210,000 additional Victorians each year and reducing waits in emergency.

When you or someone you love needs emergency care, every minute matters. We want you seen and treated sooner.

Labor will open 250 more beds and hire 750 more nurses at 12 EDs to help patients get into treatment faster.

That will slash ED wait times by up to 20 per cent and mean more than 210,000 people get treatment every year.

Reducing wait times will also help paramedics get back on the road to the next person who needs them.

Labor hired 17,000 nurses and built 12 new hospitals.

Now, we’ll expand 12 more hospital emergency departments so more Victorians can get care closer to home.

The new Frankston and Footscray hospitals are already caring for patients, with more operating theatres, more beds and more services for local families.

Under Jeff Kennett, the Liberals closed 12 hospitals.

Now the Liberals and One Nation want to Americanise our health system through cuts. That would mean nurses sacked, hospital beds closed, and longer waits.

Labor will protect our public hospitals and the people who care for us.

Because Labor believes everyone deserves care when they need it.
