We’re providing Free Kinder to reduce pressure on families and provide a better start for every child.

The Allan Labor Government is making life easier for Victorian families by delivering nation-leading free kinder for three- and four-year-olds.

By covering the fees families would normally pay, Labor is providing cost-of-living relief and ensuring every child can access a great early education, no matter their postcode or family budget.

Since Free Kinder began in 2023, hundreds of thousands of families have benefitted, with the Labor Government picking up nearly $1 billion in kinder fees so far - including $350 million in savings this year alone. Families can now save up to $2,700 per child, every year, taking real pressure off household budgets when it matters most.

Free Kinder is now easier to access. This year, 35 new and expanded kinders are delivering 4200 new places. A further 25 school-based kinders will open by 2028, helping families avoid the dreaded double drop-off.

And to give every child the best possible start, Labor is providing 70,000 free Kinder Kits to children starting three-year-old kinder, packed with books, toys and activities to support learning at home. Because no family should ever have to choose between putting food on the table and giving their child a great education.

Only Labor is focused on making life easier and more affordable for Victorian families.
