Opening more than 100 new schools

Labor is building and upgrading schools, supporting our teachers and driving the best results in the nation.

The Allan Labor Government is delivering record investment in education. We’re building the schools growing communities need, while helping families manage the real cost of sending kids to school. This year alone, 19 brand new government schools are opening their doors across Victoria – the most ever in a single year – creating more than 11,000 new enrolment places for local students.

Since 2019, Labor has opened 100 new government schools and delivered more than 2,300 school upgrades, supporting over 92,000 additional student places. Half of all new schools built in Australia have been in Victoria, as a direct result of Labor’s commitment to public education and growing communities.

Labor is also easing cost-of-living pressures for families.

We've made public transport free for under 18s, saving families hundreds of dollars every year, and expanded School Breakfast Clubs so kids don't go hungry, delivering more than 60 million free meals since the program began.

We have delivered free dental check-ups for kids, free pads and tampons in government schools, and banned compulsory logos on school uniforms to keep costs down.

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund now supports more than 190,000 students each year, with payments increased to $400 per eligible student, helping kids attend camps, excursions and sporting programs no child should ever miss out on.

Because every child deserves a great local school. And every family deserves a Labor government that invests in education, not cuts it.
