Liberals Cut TAFE. Labor Made It Free. Now We’ll Build More Campuses.

05 November 2026

A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will build two new TAFE campuses in Melbourne’s outer north and west.

And we’ll upgrade TAFE campuses in Bendigo, Wonthaggi and Dandenong.

It’s a $170 million investment in the future of Victorian jobs.

Melbourne’s north and west are growing fast

Local TAFE campuses must keep up.

Too many young people and workers are travelling long distances just to get to class.

No Victorian should miss out on the skills they need for a good, secure job because TAFE is too far away.

That’s why Labor will invest $100 million to build two brand-new TAFE campuses.

In Melbourne’s west, we’ll invest $50 million in a new campus in Wyndham.

In Melbourne’s north, we’ll invest $50 million in a new TAFE campus in the outer north near Kalkallo.

These new campuses will focus on delivering training in priority skills areas such as construction, trades, logistics, health, community services, early childhood education and renewable energy.

We’re also investing $70 million to upgrade TAFE campuses across the state:

• Bendigo – $20 million to establish a Clean Economy Hub at Bendigo TAFE’s Charleston Road campus, to train the tradies we need for the energy transition.

• Wonthaggi – $5 million for TAFE Gippsland, focused on health and construction.

• Dandenong – $45 million to build a new Home Building Centre at Chisholm’s Dandenong campus.

Only Labor fights for working people

The Liberals shut down TAFEs and sacked TAFE teachers last time they were in power.

Labor saved TAFE and made it free.

Now we’re building new campuses.

It’s all at risk under a Liberal-One Nation Coalition Government.

They’ll cut $40 billion from frontline services.

They’ll sack 31,700 frontline workers.

And they’ll do to TAFE what they’ve done before – cut it, shut it.
