Labor Will Upgrade 50 Local Roads - Including in Melbourne's South East
Labor is getting back to basics.
We're already fixing 500,000 potholes.
Now, a re-elected Carroll Labor Government will upgrade 50 local roads.
Upgrading 50 local roads across Victoria
Labor has already announced 47 local road upgrades, including Bellarine Link, widening Somerton Rd, duplicating Findon Rd – and dozens more in regional Victoria.
Today, we’re announcing Labor will upgrade three more local roads in Melbourne’s south east:
In Noble Park, we’ll replace the Heatherton Road roundabout with traffic lights.
In Murrumbeena, we’ll upgrade the intersection of Murrumbeena Road and Leila Road.
In Narre Warren East, we’ll commence work on upgrades to Wellington Road between Belgrave–Hallam Road and Berwick Road.
Planning and construction will start on all three in the next term of a Carroll Labor Government.
In total, these 50 upgrades represent a $3.6 billion investment in upgrading our road network.
Labor builds, Liberals cut
Labor promised to remove 50 dangerous and congested level crossings.
We delivered all 50 – and another 46 on top of that.
Now we’ll upgrade 50 local roads.
And we’re removing 500,000 potholes.
More than 150,000 potholes have now been repaired this financial year – so we’re on track.
Last time the Liberals were in power, nothing got built – and road maintenance funding got cut.
Jess Wilson’s Liberal–One Nation Coalition is promising $40 billion in cuts.
You can't cut $40 billion from the budget without cutting road maintenance.
