Labor Will Upgrade 50 Local Roads - Including In Melbourne's North and West
Labor is getting back to basics.
We're already fixing 500,000 potholes.
Now, a re-elected Carroll Labor Government will upgrade 50 local roads.
Upgrading 50 local roads across Victoria
Labor has already announced 44 local road upgrades, including Bellarine Link, widening Somerton Rd, duplicating Findon Rd – and dozens more in regional Victoria.
Today, we’re announcing Labor will upgrade three more busy local roads in Melbourne’s north and west:
In Wollert, we’ll duplicate Craigieburn Road East between Jardin Road and Edgars Road, with new intersections and a fix for the turning issue at the service station.
In Donnybrook, we’ll deliver Stage 3 of the Donnybrook Road Upgrade comprising new intersections at Dwyer Street and English Street, and a new bridge over Merri Creek.
In Wyndham, we’ll deliver Stage 1 of the Sayers Rd upgrade by adding more lanes at the Forsyth Rd intersection, to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.
Planning and construction will start on all three in the next term of a Carroll Labor Government.
These upgrades are part of an $893 million package.
The three remaining upgrades in the package will be announced in the coming days.
Labor builds, Liberals cut
Labor promised to remove 50 dangerous and congested level crossings.
We delivered all 50 – and another 46 on top of that.
Now we’ll upgrade 50 local roads.
And we’re removing 500,000 potholes.
More than 150,000 potholes have now been repaired this financial year – so we’re on track.
Last time the Liberals were in power, nothing got built – and road maintenance funding got cut.
Jess Wilson’s Liberal–One Nation Coalition is promising $40 billion in cuts to services and programs.
You can't cut $40 billion from the budget without cutting road maintenance.
