Jess Wilson's Dodgy Housing Maths Doesn’t Add Up

06 November 2026

Jess Wilson's Liberals are at it again with more dodgy costings.

This time, they want to flog off land already earmarked for housing.

This includes thousands of homes guaranteed for first home buyers.

Instead of guaranteeing those homes for young Victorians, the Liberals want to sell the sites to the highest bidder.

Labor's agreement with the Commonwealth is to deliver 25,000 homes for first home buyers.

Selling these sites would put the agreement – and its $500 million in federal funding – in the bin.

The numbers don't add up:

• The Liberals claim they'll make $1.3 billion selling the land.

• Their sell-off would rip up $500 million in Commonwealth housing funding.

• And they've failed to account for up to $600 million in costs to clean up East Werribee – where radioactive cow carcasses were buried.

Add it up, and the Liberals could be left with just $200 million of their promised $1.3 billion.

Just yesterday, new analysis exposed a $6.35 billion gap in the Liberals' costings.

That's on top of Jess Wilson’s Liberal One Nation coalition’s $40 billion in cuts.

A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will deliver 25,000 homes reserved for first home buyers.

Jess Wilson’s Liberal One Nation coalition would put those at risk.
