Better, Safer Local Roads for the Western Suburbs
A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will upgrade local roads across the western suburbs.
We have listened to locals who are spending too long in traffic.
Better, safer local roads are our priority.
That’s why we’ll fund these important projects and get them underway as soon as possible.
Widening Point Cook Road in Seabrook
Locals spend too long stuck in traffic in either direction on Point Cook Road.
It’s carrying more traffic than it was built for.
Labor is already fixing the intersection at Central Avenue. But there’s more to do.
If re-elected, Labor will widen Point Cook Road between Central Avenue to Dunnings Road.
We will invest $195 million in the two-kilometre upgrade.
We will double the lanes from two to four, and upgrade four intersections to keep the traffic moving.
Widening Taylors Road in Kings Park/Delahey
Taylors Road is a busy east-west connection through the growing north-west.
Heading west, its four lanes narrow to two at Kings Road, creating a major bottleneck.
If re-elected, Labor will widen Taylors Rd from Kings Road to Kurungg Drive.
This $170 million investment will extend the four-lane section of Kings Road by another 1.5 kilometres.
We’ll also deliver a new walking and cycling path so getting around is safer for everyone.
Currently, this section of road is council-run not state-run.
We will take it over – because we need to fix it up.
Fixing the Ballan Road and Bolton Road intersection in Wyndham Vale
The congested intersection at Ballan Road and Bolton Road sees massive queues during peak periods.
We need to keep locals moving.
If re-elected, Labor will invest $83 million to double the capacity at the intersection.
We will increase Bolton Road from two to four lanes between Ballan Road and McGrath Road.
And we will increase Ballan Road from two to four lanes between Bolton Road and Windsor Avenue.
This will slash travel times for locals.
Planning for these upgrades would begin early next year and construction would start next term.
We can afford these projects because we have made commonsense decisions like:
• saving $2 billion on SRL
• saving $100 million on public service executive numbers.
What we are doing right now
We are doubling the number of potholes filled this year, from 250,000 to 500,000.
Victorians know they can’t trust Liberals on roads.
They cut funding from our roads the last time they were in power.
Under the Liberal-One Nation Coalition’s $40 billion cuts plan, they will do it again.
